Kenya Arts Fun Day this weekend!
mhya’s Becky Davey is holding a Arts Fun Day this Saturday 19th April
Becky Davey who is one of the mhya committee as well as our representative as a trustee at Merchistoun Hall is off to Kenya! In June this year Becky will be off to Kenya for a moth to teach drama to children & young people. Currently studying at the University of Winchester for her degree in Contemporary Performance, Becky hopes to continue on to do a PGCE after graduation.
All funds must be raised to be part of this fantastic opportunity with Gap Creative so Becky decided to do what she does best…have fun with the arts! Members of mhya committee and members of footlights will be there on Saturday running the event. It is £4 per child to take part in all of the workshops and activities, this includes a free drink & biscuit. This part of the day runs from 1pm -5pm and is aimed for children aged 4yrs+.
Then at 6pm after a very quick turn around there will be an evening quiz! Teams of 6-8 players that is priced at £3 per adult to take part. This also includes nibbles and a soft drink, unfortunately the bar will not be open. There will be a raffle and quiz rounds include picture, music and more!
All funds raised will go towards helping Becky take part in this Kenya adventure. If you are able to come along and support it would be great to see you! Please do tell your friends and if you would like more information please contact us between now and Saturday!
Please note there is no drama for either group this Sunday 20th April. Sessions are back on Sunday 27th April at normal times.
Have a great Easter weekend and we’ll see you soon!
Best wishes all of us at mhya!
Merchistoun Minnows are expanding!
Our new room, called “Mini-Minnows” launches on Wednesday 23rd April 2014.
This new room will be used for a range of purposes. To help settle new children in smaller groups, also this will benefit our existing children with group time activities and preparing them for transitions to school. This development will provide even more materials, activities and learning opportunities whilst still providing a high quality of care.
Mini minnows will be open for the first time during our Easter Extravaganza so parents and carers can look around ask questions and get a general feel of how it will run when we start back after Easter break.
A grant from EHDC has helped to set up this this new development.
