The planting of ‘Old Oak Dell’

The planting of ‘Old Oak Dell’ has begun! Horndean Community Association, the owners and managers of Merchistoun Hall and Park have begun the re landscaping of the 4.5 acres of grounds, thanks to a grant from Tesco Bags of Help.

The groundsman and his team of volunteers have begun to clear the ground around the ‘old oak’ near the lake and on Tuesday the children from Horndean Express came to the park to begin the replanting.

They have planted anemones, scilla, harebells and primula, all woodland plants. There will be lots more planting to do in the next few months. There is also going to be some new seating around the lake.

If you like gardening and want to help us please contact the Community Association:- Email Denise Clarke (Volunteer Coordinator) Tel. 023 9259 7114

Thank you from HCA to CareUK

The trustees of Horndean Community Association would like to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you to CareUK for the £500 donation towards our Christmas Fayre this coming Saturday.

This on the lead up to the brand new CareUK care home being built here in Horndean… quite literally just down the road from us!

We at Merchistoun Hall look forward to working in partnership with the new care home in providing services and activities in the Parish when it comes on stream in early 2017.

The donation will be used for among other things purchasing the food items for the festive tea room and BBQ areas.

Statement: Merchistoun Minnows Preschool

We have been made aware that there is some talk about our preschool closing. This may be due to the fact that we have suspended our Tuesday afternoon sessions temporarily due to lack of need for this particular time of day.

Merchistoun Minnows Preschool (and its spin off ‘Minnies’ – for 2 year olds) is very much open and this gives us a great opportunity to invite to you to visit if you are looking for preschool for your child from January 2017 onwards.

Carol, our Preschool Manager will be more than pleased to book a visit to view our newly redecorated & redesigned setting.

This message also gives us the ideal opportunity to present our new promotional poster…complete with new logo! To find our more about our preschool call 07585 288591.
