Due to the increase in numbers of children at Merchistoun Minnows, I am pleased on behalf of the Horndean Community Association Trustees to welcome both Kerry and Sandra as new members of Staff!
If you have not visited Merchistoun Hall recently you may not be aware of the regeneration that has taken place on our grounds at Merchistoun Park, located in the grounds of Merchistoun Hall.
Merchistoun Park is open all year round for families and dog-walkers at no cost. Parking is free, and there are outside play facilities for children from toddlers to teens.
Merchistoun Park has wood-chipped walkways allowing the grounds to be enjoyed no matter what the season.
Many thanks to the Seasonal Workers and Horndean Parish Council, and East Hants District Council for their support in re-imaging the grounds of our Estate.

The grounds Merchistoun Hall continue to benefit from the support of our stakeholders and supporters; thanks to support and financial investment from Horndean Parish Council and East Hants District Council, the Estate will receive a much needed improvement with the refurbishment of the Driveway.
Work will start on Wednesday 23rd March and it will include the laying of new highway-specification tarmac, improvements to drainage, and marked parking bays. New external lighting will provide a improvement to the safety for our evening visitors with the installation of professionally reconditioned Victorian-style street lamps which have been carefully selected to blend in with our Grade II Listed Building.
Horndean Parish Council have also been key in supporting the Driveway refurbishment by appointing the contractors and working with us on the successful planning application. East Hants District Council have been key in supporting funding the refurbishment through developers contributions.
The refurbishment for the Driveway starts Monday March 21st 2011 and will last approximately a fortnight.
Please note, during the refurbishment of the driveway there will be limited or no parking available on-site; please consider car-sharing or public transport options when visiting us.
Over the course of the next few weeks, months and years we will be updating the website with the news regarding the Merchistoun Hall site and the Regeneration of our Estate.
The Regeneration covers all aspects of Merchistoun Hall, from the grounds, to the main-building, the driveway, the outbuildings.
In advance we say thank you to our stakeholders, sponsors, our supporters, our volunteers, our staff – without which none of this would have been possible.
You will often find many Volunteers at Merchistoun Hall, from running the Reception Desk, assisting the Trustees, to helping set-up and of course running one of the many dozens of Groups based on campus.
From putting in a few hours each week, to perhaps more, there is something that everyone can offer.
Whether you are retired, working, or in-between jobs, there are others like you giving their time to support the Horndean Community.
If you have a few hours free time each week, or some skills that you want to put to good use, please consider coming to Volunteer with us at Merchistoun Hall.
