Horndean Parish Community Plan

The Horndean Parish Community Plan display continues to be shown around the parish. If you have missed it so far, why not pop along to Jubilee Hall, Catherington Lane, PO8 9SU next Monday 24th October between 5.30 and 7.00 pm when it can be viewed prior to the monthly parish council meeting. Members of the community-led team will be on hand to answer your questions.

Another date for your diary: On Friday 18th November, 7.00 – 9.00 pm at Merchistoun Hall, there will be a public meeting addressing the question Localism . . . What does it mean for us all? The keynote speaker will be Meon Valley MP, George Hollingbery.

Two websites worth visiting:

  1. www.fixmystreet.com is an excellent website for reporting, viewing, or discussing local problems like graffiti, fly-tipping, potholes, broken paving slabs, or street lighting. I have used it several times to report fly-tipping (not just in East Hampshire) and, in my experience, it gets results.
  2. www.crimereports.co.uk - self-explanatory – type in your postcode.

In the meantime, if you have any queries about the parish plan, do get in touch.

Horndean Business Network at Petersfield Market

With some excellent publicity work prepared by local business woman Penny Plimmer of Japics and information and material from other local Horndean shops and businesses , the recently re-formed Business Network Group took a stall at Petersfield Market on Saturday 23 July with the aim of persuading people north of Butser that Horndean isn’t just somewhere you pass by on the motorway but somewhere worth visiting.

The response was good with lots of people stopping to talk and certainly some who will visit enticed by discount  vouchers offered by Shambles our local recycled furniture, household goods and decorative items shop.

The group is now planning further displays at local supermarkets and also at our Horndean  Community Association Open Day on the 11 September,  leading later in the year to a Business Fayre here at Merchistoun  Hall.

The group will shortly have their own website link on Horndean.net but in the meantime enquiries about membership can be made through the secretary Jean.reynolds AT merchistounhall.co DOT uk
