Around 25 attended the Youth Arts Open Day to learn from a series of workshops as led by Ross Harvie the Associate Director and Paul Phillipson, resident technician.
A lunch BBQ was catered by rkDIA for the the attendees and parents.
A Twitter review of the workshops as it progressed was sent live throughout the course of the day.
Student Jen Morris provided an array of home-made cakes to sell as a fund-raiser for the Youth Drama programme.
Proteus led a series of workshops based on the ethos of the company itself exploring, devised theatre, story-lines and plots using an areay of props … for example turning a boiler suit, hard hard hat & snooker cue into a living character – Derek a surfing pirate from Yorkshire!
Footlight Youth Theatre, who coordinated and led the day, the also spent time also re-imagining the Merchistoun Hall Youth Drama programme for the future.
The day ended with meeting with potential members to the programme to consolidate our parnership with Proteus.
A static display of the history of the youth theatre programme (as established by the late Centre Manager, Jill Kerby back in Easter of 1989) called. “…the story so far” was set up promoting the programme since its beginnings.
