New Driveway Lighting

Grounds Improvements: Merchistoun Hall a Living History – Estate Regeneration

If you have not visited Merchistoun Hall recently you may not be aware of the regeneration that has taken place on our grounds at Merchistoun Park, located in the grounds of Merchistoun Hall.

Merchistoun Park is open all year round for families and dog-walkers at no cost.  Parking is free, and there are outside play facilities for children from toddlers to teens.

Merchistoun Park has wood-chipped walkways allowing the grounds to be enjoyed no matter what the season.

Many thanks to the Seasonal Workers and Horndean Parish Council, and East Hants District Council for their support in re-imaging the grounds of our Estate.

Driveway Update: Merchistoun Hall a Living History – Estate Regeneration

The grounds Merchistoun Hall continue to benefit from the support of our stakeholders and supporters; thanks to support and financial investment from Horndean Parish Council and East Hants District Council, the Estate will receive a much needed improvement with the refurbishment of the Driveway.

Work will start on Wednesday 23rd March and it will include the laying of new highway-specification tarmac, improvements to drainage, and marked parking bays. New external lighting will provide a improvement to the safety for our evening visitors with the installation of professionally reconditioned Victorian-style street lamps which have been carefully selected to blend in with our Grade II Listed Building.

Horndean Parish Council have also been key in supporting the Driveway refurbishment by appointing the contractors and working with us on the successful planning application. East Hants District Council have been key in supporting funding the refurbishment through developers contributions.

The refurbishment for the Driveway starts Monday March 21st 2011 and will last approximately a fortnight.

Please note, during the refurbishment of the driveway there will be limited or no parking available on-site; please consider car-sharing or public transport options when visiting us.
