Youth Drama and Holiday Arts Workshops

Welcome to the world of youth arts here at Merchistoun Hall offering youth drama and multi arts activities in all school holiday periods (inc Christmas).

Youth arts at Merchistoun Hall offers a unique varied and vibrant opportunity for young people aged 5 to youth to pursue theatre, drama, arts and crafts & to showcase their work both here at the centre and into the wider community.

Youth Drama

Established in 1989 youth drama offers:

• 4 Weekly drama groups for children 5 years upwards
• Duke of Edinburgh training in drama skills
• Professional specialised workshops
• Shows 'on tour'
• Inter-age work and experience opportunities
• Musical theatre group
• Drama school and higher education audition training
• Technical applications
• Annual youth drama awards evening
• Marketing and promotion of productions
• Workshops in schools
• Volunteer and paid support for older members, plus much more!

Holiday Arts Workshops

Holiday arts workshops are held at the centre each school holiday period for children aged 4-13 years. Offering a rich mixture of drama, art, crafts and play!

Resources and facilities available at Merchistoun Hall

Merchistoun Hall is also proud to host its very own professionally equipped theatre space with facilities that include:

• Audience seating for up to 120 (80 for cinema events)
• Raised stage- fully curtained with apron
• Full lighting rig
• Lighting and sound desks
• Sound system with cd, tape and minidisk facility
• Microphones
• Backstage communication kits
• Dressing room
• Loop system (This facility was made possible by a Grant from the Arts Council)
• Community Cinema facility
